grenada’s quiet sister island — boatbuilders, reefs and unhurried living
Carriacou is Grenada’s sister island, 90 minutes north by ferry from St. George’s or a short hop by air. Home to a few thousand people, a boatbuilding tradition, superb reefs and beaches like Paradise Beach and Sandy Island, it attracts buyers who want genuine island quiet and land at prices the mainland left behind years ago.
CarriacouOsprey ferry from the Carenage in StHillsborough is the only town; the rest is villages, hillsides and bays. Days are set by the ferry timetable and the weather. Sailors love it — Tyrrel Bay is a favourite anchorage — and the Carriacou Regatta in August fills the island.
Sailors, retirees, artists and remote workers looking for a slower pace; Carriacouans abroad buying family land; small-scale guesthouse investors.
Mostly land — hillside and sea-view lots such as our parcel in Meldrum — with occasional houses and small guesthouses. Utilities and access vary lot by lot, so surveys and site visits matter.
