most SGU students live in True Blue and Calliste (closest to campus), Lance aux Epines (quiet, popular with families and faculty) or Grand Anse and Frequente (beach, shopping, buses). Housing turns over around the August and January intakes, so start looking two to three months before term.
The neighbourhoods
- True Blue & Calliste — closest to campus; apartments and gated complexes, some walkable. Area guide.
- Lance aux Epines — leafy, five minutes away; faculty, medical students with families, anyone who wants a garden. Area guide.
- Grand Anse & Frequente — beach, mall, restaurants and the main bus route; lots of one- and two-bedrooms. Area guide.
- Belmont, Woburn & further out — cheaper; you will want a car or the SGU bus route.
What rentals usually include
Student lets are typically furnished, often with water and internet included; electricity is usually metered separately because air-conditioning drives the bill. Ask about generator or water-tank backup, security (gated, grilled windows, lighting), laundry and whether the SGU shuttle stops nearby. Leases commonly run by semester or academic year with a one-month deposit.
Timing and booking from overseas
Good units go early. Start two to three months before your intake, tell us your budget and whether you need the bus route, and we will send video walk-throughs so you can commit before you fly.
For landlords
Own an apartment near SGU? We market to each intake, screen tenants and can manage the let while you are away. List your unit.
